Top-Up Card / Public Transport Tickets

If you are spending your holiday in Bodrum, you can easily get around using public transportation. All city buses and most dolmus minibuses belong to MUTTAŞ, the public transport company of Mugla Province.

What is MUTTAŞ?

MUTTAŞ is the transportation company of the Mugla Metropolitan Municipality. Since 2014, it has organized public transportation throughout the entire province of Mugla – including Bodrum.

Tip for Holidaymakers: Public transportation in Bodrum is affordable, regular, and a convenient way to reach beaches, hotels, and attractions.

Mugla Kent Card – The Travel Card for Residents

The Mugla Kent Card is a personal stored-value card for buses and dolmus minibuses. With this card, all MUTTAŞ vehicles can be used contactlessly.

Important for tourists: The Mugla Kent Card is only available to Turkish citizens and is issued in the holder's name.

No Cash Payment on MUTTAŞ Buses

Cash payment is not accepted on official MUTTAŞ buses. Payment is made contactlessly by card.

How Do Tourists Pay for Bus or Dolmus in Bodrum?

Even without a Mugla Kent Card, you can easily use public transportation:

  • In many vehicles, contactless payment with a credit or debit card is possible.
  • Alternatively, drivers or other passengers may pay with their card, and you can reimburse them in cash.

The fare within Bodrum is approximately £1 to £2, depending on the distance.

Note: British Pound coins are not widely used in Turkey. Change is usually given in Turkish Lira (TRY).

Exception: Four Minibus Lines Accepting Cash

Some minibuses are not connected to the MUTTAŞ system. Cash payment is still possible on these lines:

These lines:

  • operate independently from the MUTTAŞ system,
  • do not have stops at the Bodrum Intercity Bus Terminal,
  • depart from the old bus terminal (BTTM) and return there.
